Tel 01670 787827 email:<a href=\"mailto:info@bywellshootingground.com\">info@bywellshootingground.com<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Mountain Biking:<\/strong>\u00a0Thrunton wood is about 9 miles from Swarland and is an excellent mountain biking (and walking) venue, all year round.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Local Inn:<\/strong> The Cook and Barker pub and award winning restaurant is only 2 miles away, opt for it\u2019s cozy fire and traditional pub atmosphere or dine in it\u2019s restaurant or there is the lovely The Granby in Longframlington and The Northumberland Arms in Felton.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Village Cafe<\/strong>&#8211; Swarland\u00a0 has its well established community cafe called\u00a0 Nelsons at the Park (opposite the square) www.nelsonsswarland.co.uk Tel 01670 787 600- Please support our local amenities Open 9am-5pm &#8211; Great breakfast, soup , cakes etc<\/p>\n<p><strong>Eating\u00a0Out:<\/strong> Both Alnwick and Morpeth offer a wide range of restaurants in which to eat from Nadon Thai in Morpeth or Leo Thai Cuisine in Alnwick\u00a0 to The Tree House In Alnwick, or Lal Khazana Indian cuisine in Shilbottle, The Boat House in Amble fab sea food. Lollo Rosso in Morpeth great Italians- booking is necessary though.<\/p>\n<p>I have produced a\u00a0 detailed list of local eateries and left it in the cottages for your reference.<\/p>\n<h3>Places of Interest<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Cragside Hall:<\/strong>\u00a0A great hall built by Lord Armstrong-a pioneer of the Industrial Revolution. Surrounded by thousands of rhododendron bushes and some of the tallest trees in Britain, it is a delight for the naturalist and for those interested in historic homes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Alnwick Castle:<\/strong>\u00a0The official home of the Duke &amp; Duchess of Northumberland. This very famous and well preserved castle, has been used as a location for many films including Harry Potter. Take a guided tour around the state rooms and visit the stunning china display. Children will be entertained at Knight\u2019s Quest with medieval and interactive games.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Alnwick Gardens:<\/strong>\u00a0There\u2019s so much more to explore at The Alnwick Garden, created by the Duchess of Northumberland. Acres of fascinating plants, water sculptures and our infamous Poison Garden, for a start. Not to mention one of the world\u2019s largest wooden tree houses, where you can have a light snack or a delicious evening meal surrounded by twinkling lights. A unique experience.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Farne Islands:<\/strong>\u00a0A group of small islands about two miles off the coast of Northumberland, home to Lindisfarne, an ancient monastery. They&#8217;re also famous as bird sanctuaries. Take one of the many boat trips and see the seals and infamous puffins.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Hadrian&#8217;s Wall:<\/strong>\u00a0A world famous Roman Wall extending from Newcastle to Carlisle, it has many historic roman sites along its path, and sections of the wall are remarkably well preserved.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Whitehouse Farm Centre:<\/strong>\u00a0Stannington, Morpeth &#8211;\u00a0Whatever your age come along and join in for a unique \u00a0hands-on experience. Open every day except Mondays. most of\u00a0the animals are still indoors for the winter.
